Why not blitz every down? Pressure clearly works.
Every blitz is a loan against coverage. QBs who identify the free rusher collect instantly with hot throws — that's why the fire zone and simulated pressure exist: to get the speed without paying full price. All-out pressure every down is a strategy with a short, famous list of casualties.

Because the QB's pre-snap scan is the offense's best weapon, and disguise poisons it. The cost is real — the disguising safety starts out of position — but a half-second of QB doubt is usually worth more.
